Honor Leaders Retreat 2017

The date had been set for months. We all knew that from the 16th-18th of December we would be at our favorite place in the world. When the actual day came, there were some complications. Baber (Rachel) had a final at Duke that ended the same time the retreat was supposed to start. Basmaci (Rachel) and Josh almost didn’t make it there because of overbooked flights. However, around 9pm Friday night we were all together. All complications were forgotten and we went to work. In just over 36 hours we shared more laughter, tears (on Baber’s part at least), information, and planning than we thought possible. The 8 of us learned about how Leaders’ School operates, what our role will be, and what we have to look forward to with Greg as the new director. Being at the Assembly without 800 of our closest friends was a little lonely but we got to see the places we know and love in a new light. The boys finally got to see just how small the rooms in Eureka Hall actually are. We all learned that the toilets are 1.6 gallons of water a flush!

Together we crafted a vision for BRLS 2017. We collaborated and divided the work that lies ahead. Victoria turned 19 and we celebrated at midnight with cupcakes. Greg and Jessica loved on us and inspired us to ask more from ourselves. Over the short weekend, we became a family. The retreat was unlike anything we had ever experienced and we cannot wait to share all that we have planned for BRLS 2017 with you.
