Hello Leaders!
After months of waiting, your HLs all traveled to YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly for our retreat from December 15th-17th. Most of our travel went smoothly, except Cecilia had a small hiccup with her flight and didn’t get to Blue Ridge until 9 pm on Friday night! To fill the time before Cecilia got to us, we had a dance party – Jason and Christian sure can break it down. Nevertheless, as soon as we all got settled into our cabin, we got to work!
Throughout the weekend, we made many decisions surrounding the song/theme and divvied up vespers assignments. Additionally, Greg and Jessica opened the floor to deeper discussions pertaining to different parts of the school, like counselors, classes, devotions; and through this discussion, we learned the ins and outs of Blue Ridge Leaders’ School. They shared that the school leadership team read over 350 surveys/emails and are using that feedback to continue to make BRLS the best it can be! We walked away from the retreat knowing that the SLT respects our perspectives and considers everything when planning for the school.
Guests such as Mary Hall brought us some delicious BBQ on Saturday, along with Keith Doster who spoke with us about how to lead Feeling Great! The only thing more invigorating than being on a snow-covered mountain where you could see every star in the sky, was the bond that we were able to build and strengthen. Nevertheless, the mountain was not the same without all of you!
To wrap it up; we are excited for the upcoming months of planning, but we are most excited for BRLS in June! We are anxious to see old faces and meet new ones! We cannot wait to show you what we have in store!
