Hey guys!! My name’s Colin and I’m from the Northwest Tampa YMCA in Tampa, Florida! I’ve been with my club for six years, and it’ll be my 4th year at Blue Ridge this year! I go to school at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and I want to become a doctor in the future. Some hobbies of mine are playing sports with friends and enjoying nature (especially the views on the mountain!)
What is your favorite BRLS story, memory, or experience?
There’s a lot of great memories that I have from this amazing place! One of my favorites was the devotion my club performed for the June 2021 school. It was really gratifying seeing all the hard work that was put into planning and executing the devotion come to fruition; definitely recommend it to any clubs that are considering it!
What is your favorite Leaders’ Club story, memory, or experience?
One of my favorite Leaders Club memories happened in 8th grade, during my second year in the club. There were a series of team competitions, and somehow, my introverted self back then was chosen to be our team’s leader. The last competition was for each group to make a chant, and my group decided to make it about me; it ended up being pretty good (we won), and still to this day it’s one of the best nights of my life!
What are you most looking forward to for BRLS this year?
I’m most looking forward to making this year’s experience the best one yet for everyone, especially as we celebrate the school’s 100th anniversary this year! I’m also excited to meet the newest members and clubs in our BRLS family! And of course, I can’t forget the chicken tenders, which I 10/10 recommend!
If you could give your 1st year self one piece of advice, what would it be?
One piece of advice I would give my 1st year self is to really just make the most out of everything up there, because you’ll only get to experience this opportunity one week every year! It may seem like such a big and vast place, but there are so many friendly faces that are willing to help you with anything!
Tell us a fun fact about anything!!
A fun fact about me is that I was born in Boston and moved to Florida in 6th grade!
