Hi! My name is Lexie and I’m from the Northwest Tampa Y. I’m currently a student at the University of Central Florida studying Electrical Engineering and I spend most of my time studying, going to the gym, and hanging out with friends. 2022 will be my 7th year on the mountain and I can’t wait to serve the school!

What is your favorite BRLS story, memory, or experience?

One of my favorite memories of BRLS was during my first year as a counselor when one of the more shy/reserved girls in my group successfully led a chant in the lunchroom by herself. None of us knew she was going to, she just stood up and absolutely killed it! It was the first of many times that week where I could see her begin to come out of her shell and have more confidence in herself, which was super rewarding to see as a counselor.

What is your favorite Leaders’ Club story, memory, or experience?

One of my favorite Leaders Club experiences was putting on a devotion at BRLS in 2019. It was a lot of fun to plan and practice it with my club and it really brought out some great qualities in everyone, whether it be organization, motivation, or comedic relief. I think it brought us all closer together, and our performance went great!

What are you most looking forward to for BRLS this year?

I’m most looking forward to being able to bring back some of the traditions that we unfortunately couldn’t participate in in 2021 because of covid, such as lunchroom chants and the school dance. Since most of the teens at the school won’t have the same BRLS experience that the we have from 2019 and prior, I feel like the HL team has a lot of responsibility to revive the full potential of the school with no covid restrictions (hopefully!) and pass the experience onto the next generation of Leaders.

If you could give your 1st year self one piece of advice, what would it be?

My advice to myself would be forget everything you think you know about how you’re “supposed” to behave. We face so much pressure at school and in society to act a certain way to “fit in” and make people like us, but if there’s one thing BRLS has taught me, it’s that if you stay true to yourself, people will love you for who you truly are. Talking to new people doesn’t have to be as intimidating as it seems! Most people want friends but are too nervous to start a conversation, but giving it a shot is always better than not.

Tell us a fun fact about anything!!

A fun fact about me is that I’ve been to all 50 states!
