Hey all, my name is Ale Quintero and I am from the South Tampa Family YMCA. I am currently a sophomore Mechanical Engineering major at the University of Florida. In my free time you can probably catch me at my college rec center, either playing hoops or getting a quick pump in. I also love playing video games with my friends in my downtime and find it a huge stress reliever and getaway from scary hard engineering classes.

What is your favorite BRLS story, memory, or experience?

My favorite mountain experience has to be during my first year when I sang “Hey There Delilah” at karaoke with Brendan Wells

What is your favorite Leaders’ Club story, memory, or experience?

My favorite leaders club moment is probably during this past year of BRLS when all the counselors in my cabin held the Abbott Games. Our final competition was an indoor frisbee golf course design contest, with each floor being a different team. During the course of that competition, I saw the most innovative and hilarious courses of my life, with the kids from my counselor group specifically making a course I will never forget.

What are you most looking forward to for BRLS this year?

I am looking forward to giving back to the school that gave so much to me. I simply to ensure that all attendees of the school this year have a great time and hopefully leave having BRLS in a similar place in their heart to mine.

If you could give your 1st year self one piece of advice, what would it be?

I would tell myself to take my health more seriously, whether it is my physical health or mental health, both being equally important for my own equilibrium as a person.

Tell us a fun fact about anything!!

I was born in Colombia and actually moved to Tampa when I was 4 years old!
