Hi!! My name is Erika Shaffer and I am from the James L. Camp Leaders Club in Franklin Virginia. I’m currently a freshman at James Madison University (Go Dukes!!). I’m a card game junkie, dog lover, workout enthusiast, YMCA soccer coach, and a social butterfly.

What is your favorite BRLS story, memory, or experience?

My favorite BRLS memory would be this past year when I had the opportunity to be a counselor to the most amazing teenagers. I was overwhelmed with the vulnerability each of them shared and the trust they had in me

What is your favorite Leaders’ Club story, memory, or experience?

My favorite Leaders Club memory would be the overnights with my club where we would play slip in slide kickball, minute to win it games, and feeling great. After all of the fun, then we would get to sit down and create deeper friendships and relationships with others.

What are you most looking forward to for BRLS this year?

This year at BRLS, I am most looking forward to meeting all of the 1st years and teaching my favorite classes from my first year! I am also excited to create a deeper bond with my fellow Honor Leaders and grow our lasting friendships.

If you could give your 1st year self one piece of advice, what would it be?

If I could give my 1st year self advice it would be to allow yourself to be open and vulnerable while remembering that it’s okay to be different from others.
